Unglazed Stoneware Beads

These beads were widely distributed to bead shops on the West Coast and most likely else ware as Chicago was the home base for Earthworks. These were simply well designed functional beads that fit the"Back to Earth Movement" of the late 60's and early 70's. Earthworks' true art was in developing a cottage industry that provided an inexpensive, consistent practical product. These beads were used primarily to support jewelry and macreme constructions with wood, feathers, bones and other sculptural beads.
